Visual Studio for Applications is scheduled to debut in SDK form with Office 12.  It looks - to me - as the equivalent of Windows Scripting Host for previous versions of Windows. That is, developers will be able to make use of Microsoft's .NET languages in their apps.  This looks very nice as we use this sort of thing heavily.

Unfortunatley, it won't be available until late next year.
