Diplomacy rough draft
Here’s a very very very primitive video that a year from now we can go back and laugh at how weak this stuff was back in the day. ![]()

I’m going to write more on this later when I’m not so annoyed but I’m REALLY getting tired hearing from game developers who blame piracy for their game’s poor sales.
If you make a game for the console demographic, don’t expect to make huge PC sales, okay? Oh, and if you make your game require hardware that only a couple million users have, guess what? You’re not going to sell a lot of units.
More later.
I love using DeskScapes. Even back in my OS/2 days I enjoyed having my desktop background be something more than just an image.
It really wasn’t until the last couple of years that the desktop itself got hardware accelerated and thus could have cool desktop effects without it slowing down your computer.
The video above is a tour of some of my favorite free animated wallpapers (Dreams).
Got the new batch of feedback from Random House for the Elemental book.
So much pain.
I can only explain is through analogy:
When I was a kid, I thought I could draw pretty well. Then, one day, I met some real artists. I mean people with talent and I realized that no, no I can’t really draw.
Similarly, I considered myself a pretty good writer. I read books all the time. But it took having to write one – professionally – to really appreciate the effort and talent involved in writing well.
Thankfully, I’m getting enough coaching, help and training that the book is turning out very well I think. But without their intervention, I realize now that there’d been no hope.
It’s like the Friend’s “Smelly Cat” episode. ![]()
Greetings!
We’re winding up for the holidays. We’ve sent in some tweak requests to GPG on Oculus that we’re hoping to get in before he becomes available to the general public.
In the meantime, there’s been some interesting new mods showing up in the modding forum.
I’m hoping to get a Demigod mod upload area added in the new year and start including (with author consent) some of these mods so that players are more likely to have them.
I’ve talked a great deal about how cool WindowBlinds 7’s new Aero skinning feature is. But one of the other major new features of WindowBlinds 7 is the ability to tap into the huge WindowBlinds library of skins and make them work on Windows 7 without modification.
But it’s easy to claim how great WindowBlinds is at skinning Windows 7, here’s a live demo of WindowBlinds 7 in action.
Stardock’s new freeware program Fences has become the world’s most popular new desktop enhancement program.
This month, Stardock has released Fences Pro which adds some killer features.
Visit the Fences website at https://www.stardock.com/products/fences to get it.
Curious about some of the quick highlights of Sins of a Solar Empire: Diplomacy? I threw together a quick video demo to walk players to show what we have in beta 2.
If you don’t have Sins of a Solar Empire visit https://www.sinsofasolarempire.com to get it. You can get Beta 2 of Sins Diplomacy right now (it’s pretty solid at this point). Whether you like it single player or multiplayer, I think you’ll find DIplomacy to be well worth it.
This drives me crazy about iTunes 9.
