Curious about what the hubub is about? Well hopefully someone else will write something that is more in depth that isn't connected to the developers of either program. But in the meantime, I've tried to write an objective what's what about each of these customization titans.

FINALLY after being subjected to a year of emails and comments on how Konfabulator was going to blow DesktopX away we can finally see Konfabulator for itself and compare apples and apples.

Konfabulator is a program that allows users to add mini-applications called "widgets" to their Windows desktop. Popular widgets include weather monitors, stock tickers, picture frames, to-do lists, MP3 players, etc.

Konfabulator began its life as a Macintosh program. Last year they began porting it to Windows and here it is.

It's free to try and $25 to register.

 

If you're not already using desktop google, get it now and thank us later. It basically lets Google search your computer as if it were part of the web (don't worry, it's only local, so others can't search your computer).

So for finding emails, files, images, documents, it's wonderful. Check it out.

I was watching the June 4 "Bullseye" that I appeared on and in the interview I predicted that Ohio would be the key state and that it could end up being the "Florida of 2000". I also said that unlike the 18 states at the time, we really saw only 5 states (which I don't mention but they were Florida, Ohio, Iowa, Wisconsin, and New Mexico).

Obviously, we would like to take that and put it on-line so people can see -- since this was on June 4.

But how do you get it off there? VCR really doesn't help much. I want a quick way to get the file off there so I can put it on a PC.  Anyone have any ideas?

Here is a fantastic essay that every left of center person should read (and right of center for that matter). It really crystalizes why millions of people, who might have voted for Kerry (or sat out the election) decided to come out and vote.

I have seen many many comments along these lines but few that put it so artfully.
